A brilliant summer eve with Maria & Martin

engagement shoot

As it occasionally happens in this part of te world there are some summer evenings when you are left untouched by rain, or as some people like to call it, light showers. On one of those evenings our dedicated crew of two set out for a pre-wedding shoot.
Having reached the designated spot we were met by a stunning view while a certain air of adventure a.k.a horse poop reminded us to watch our step.
And then there were the two – Eston and his calm and collected mother Carrot – who didn’t seem to mind the company of their two humans Maria and Martin too much. Not even when Martin decided to try and lay Eston on the ground, not when they went for a quick swim for the first time in the nearby lake, not when they brought out their joyful bundle Liina or even when Maria just casually decided she would wear a dress and ride without a saddle.
It sure was fun!

Engagement shoot at Keila-Joa with Karin & Peeter
A few weeks ago, when the golden hues of the maples had not turned brown yet, I had the chance to have an engagement photo shoot with a fun, cheerful and live-life-to-the-fullest type of couple. Because their engagement story involved no less than the Etna Volcano crater. As I'm not really a native northern coast person, I offered a few locations beforehand. Keila-Joa was one of them, as I had briefly been there before for one of my interior photo shoots. Here are the views, laughs and heaps of leaves we managed to capture.

Vivian & Rainer on horseback
Vivian used to ride when she was a kid. And Rainer was up for it when we had lattes with them, discussing their plans for the wedding. That's how little it took to make an afternoon like this happen, with tons of excitement. Of course, we were lucky enough to have Maria & Martin refer V & R to us, and the stable of Tooma (Tooma Tallid) as well.

At Suomenlinna with Karo & Kimmo
Possibly the last one of this year's pre-wedding shoots - the one with Karo & Kimmo turned out to be definitely amongst the most adventurous. While we did have some indoor locations in mind, we decided to take a risk and have a go at Suomenlinna - the group of islands that spans 3km and is a 15-minute ferry trip away from downtown Helsinki. While Karo & Kimmo sure do have a kind of Nordic calmness to them, we got quite a few laughs and good shots from the session. We were lucky to have some mid-november snow, because if we didn't, the amount of available light at 4 pm would have been... well, non-existent. Which you can't say for the amo ...
